How the Japanese measure success.

Posted 2 years ago by Evan Tishuk

Following my post on the pitfalls of excuses, I found a similar nugget in the same vein. "American and Japanese cultures have different ideas about how to measure success."

Personally, I think anyone can be good at anything but to be "great" you have to have "the right stuff" --- the intangible "it." According to this study, the Japanese feel that if you practice hard enough you'll eventually get there. Obviously, they've never seen American Idol.

I really don't know which outlook is better.
